Description
Crispy, golden-brown chicken wings tossed in a sticky, sweet, and savory honey garlic glaze, cooked perfectly in an air fryer for a healthier, mess-free game day snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs (900g) chicken wings, split at the joint
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 large cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup (110g) raw honey
- 2 tbsp (30ml) low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp (15ml) rice vinegar
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness.
- Place dried wings in a large bowl and sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly and let sit while preheating.
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (190°C).
- Arrange wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not stacked or overcrowded. Cook for 12 minutes.
- Flip each wing and cook for another 12-13 minutes, or until the skin is golden brown, crispy, and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- While wings cook, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute without browning.
- Add honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar to the saucepan. Whisk constantly until the mixture bubbles and thickens slightly.
- Remove sauce from heat and stir in red pepper flakes if using.
- Transfer cooked wings to a clean large bowl. Pour warm sauce over wings and toss quickly to coat.
- Serve immediately on a platter.
Notes
Do not skip patting the wings dry; moisture prevents crisping. Flip wings halfway through cooking for even browning. Ensure the sauce is warm when tossing to maintain crispiness. For extra sticky wings, toss in sauce, return to air fryer for 2 minutes, and toss again.
