Description
These sticky, sweet, and salty bacon-wrapped cocktail sausages are the ultimate stress-free game day appetizer. With a simple maple glaze and minimal prep, they are perfect for feeding a crowd while you watch the game.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds cocktail sausages (beef or pork)
- 12–14 slices regular sliced bacon
- 1/2 cup real maple syrup (Grade B or Amber)
- 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1–2 teaspoons hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot or Sriracha)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Toothpicks (optional, for securing bacon)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or aluminum foil. If using a wire rack, place it on the baking sheets.
- Wrap each cocktail sausage with a slice of bacon. One slice typically wraps two sausages, but use one per sausage if the bacon is thin. Secure with a toothpick if necessary. Place seam-side down on the baking sheets.
- In a small saucepan over low heat (or microwave-safe bowl), combine maple syrup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and melted butter. Whisk until smooth and combined.
- Bake the wrapped sausages for 15 minutes to cook the sausage and start crisping the bacon.
- Remove from oven and brush a generous layer of the maple glaze over each sausage.
- Return to oven and bake for another 5-7 minutes until the glaze is bubbly, caramelized, and dark amber. Watch closely to prevent burning.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes to allow the glaze to set. Serve warm.
Notes
Use real maple syrup for the best flavor. If not using a wire rack, flip the sausages halfway through the first 15 minutes of baking to ensure even browning. These can be prepped the night before and stored in the fridge. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for best crispiness; avoid the microwave.
